Well, Todd and I went to see this rehab specialist for Todd's back. He is a neurosurgeon who specializes in spine injuries. We had the opportunity to sit down and dicuss Todd's condition and surrounding issues. To make a long story short, the Dr. believes if Todd can prove he is able, he will return to work by the middle of March. The Dr. prescribed four weeks of therapy, three days a week. After that, he will have another evaluation with the Dr. and determine his start date back to work.
While this is wonderful news for us, we are left with mixed feelings. Yes, it is exactly what Todd wanted to hear-in that he will probably be able to play basketball, softball, and golf this spring and summer. However, the whole job thing is a twist in itself. We have been searching Todd's options since being told last week that he was not going to be able to return to his previous job.
I guess I need to back track. Last week he had his scheduled appt. with the surgeon up in Saginaw. He, needless to say, was rude as always and referred us to someone down here for rehab. He would not tell Todd any direct answers to what his back was capable of doing and told him no lifting more than 25-30 pounds for the rest of the year. His back looks perfect- by the way!:):):):):) He told Todd to find a different job at least for a year that would not require lifting. He went further to say that Todd needs to change a lot of things. He shouldn't play sports, etc. because of the chance of hurting his injury. He said, "I spent a lot of time on this, I don't want you to go and screw it up"...well, glad we know how you feel about it! Thanks for nothin!
Anyways, now you are caught up to date, that is why we went to the specialist. etc...
Needless to say, the specialist had a very different viewpoint and saw nothing wrong with Todd resuming usual activity after some therapy. Praise the Lord.
As I was saying, the job thing was a little mixed. Todd had already went in last Friday and told his boss from Lush Lawn that he was not going to be able to return. :(
Then after yesterday, went back in today and told him he will be able to come back. It is at least a safety net for now. We are not under so much pressure to find a new job. Because of his injury though, the manager position he was trying to get, was given to someone else. Which is a bummer. Oh well, We will take what we can get, right!
Praise the Lord, Todd can go back to work--he is so excited! He told the Dr. yesterday his goal was to get back to doing something because he is sick of just sitting around getting fat!!!!:) LOL!
